Baptiste Lignel

I am a photographer, a publisher and an educator.

As I was trained in History before studying Photography, my work remains rooted in research in order to address contemporary social issues, developed in long-term projects.

I have mainly worked for the press until the publication of Coney Island in 2009 which marked my discovery of publishing, a medium that has since shaped the way my projects are conceived and developed.

In parallel to books -which are years in the making-, the zine format opens up quicker and lighter forms of experimentations.

Collaboration with photographers, graphic designers, publishers and the audience is central to my practice and puts in play the affirmative status of the author.

Otra Vista is the name I use for this sandbox of tests, productions and collaborations.

Book sales rely on bookstores which are my best allies. But perhaps your local bookstore doesn't carry my publications or is fresh out of them, in which case here they are. I even included those that are sold out, so you get a wider sense of what i do.
